It is with the greatest of sadness that we have today learnt of the death of Will Chamberlain, Vice Chair of the Cathedral Quarter Trust and Board Member of Destination CQ.
For the last ten years I have had the privilege of working with Will, first in the Cathedral Quarter Steering Group and later in the Cathedral Quarter Trust, where he served as Vice Chair since our foundation. Will was a force for good, an agitator for change and a restless improver of things. He was a champion for culture and arts in Belfast and a dedicated advocate for the Cathedral Quarter. He will be missed massively by us all in the Trust and the BID.
Will’s energy, his persistence and his ability to convince people that the Cathedral Quarter had the rich potential which it is now beginning to realise, all shone through in his work for the Trust and more latterly the BID. Will could be forcefully opinionated (and usually right), passionate, challenging, funny and deeply loyal, all in one sitting. And we loved him for that. Simply put, the Trust, the BID and the Quarter will not be the same without him, though his dedication, commitment and work lives on in many of the initiatives which make the Cathedral Quarter a special place.
Our heartfelt sympathies go out to his two daughters, Ellie and Bethany, who were his pride and joy and to his partner, Cath and also to all his colleagues at the Circus School, they have lost an inspirational leader.
